  • Full Article
Industry 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is characterized by process automation and digitization and the use of technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and embedded systems, among others. In fact, AI and big data are two driving forces behind several technological innovations that have shaped the current digital environment and Industry 4.0. These two trends share a common goal, i.e., to obtain the maximal data out of the vast amount of data being generated today. Therefore, within the context of substantial scientific development in this subject, this work provides an overview of the development of Industry 4.0 based on big data and AI. The methodological design commenced from the development of a bibliometric exercise for the identification of scientific papers addressing this subject. The main results of this work include the identification of scientific development based on big data and AI in the advancement of Industry 4.0. Moreover, conclusions regarding the importance of these pillars in the new digitization era are obtained.

Dynamic Simulation of the Chain Drive in a Vertical Stereo Garage on Adams Software
  • Abstract

  • Full Article
The vertical stereo garage is a smart car parking system. Parking is achieved through a chain drive which enables parking slots to be rotated. The aim of this paper is to simulate the dynamics of this chain and provide a base for its optimization. A chain model is built on ADAMS software and analyzed. Torques corresponding to the loads of cars is applied to each sprocket. Forces in the chain are investigated. Results show that applied torques remain constant throughout the experiment. Graphs of contact and tension forces are in phase. Moreover the maximum value of the average tension force is compared with the standard average tensile strength of the 48A chain, revealing a safety margin of 75.75%.

City, Culture and Public Event - a temporal construct
  • Abstract

  • Full Article
Durga Puja Festival have created thousands of Puja pandals every year transforming the image of the city- a characteristic unique to Kolkata. These transformations are temporary and last for four days although their engagement with city space is about two months (including preparation to their dismantling). Interestingly this physical pattern replicates every year though their presentation or their image varies. This phenomenon posed a general enquiry of place making and space making in a city to accommodating a public event - investigating its relation to the city's culture and its society. This temporary urban transformation is a unique occurrence for hosting a particular public event specific to city culture. It is therefore necessary to understand the nature of the public event, their relation to city culture and the emotive power that it garners to generate, motivate such a large-scale public engagement across class, religion, gender, demography, and political aspirations. This unique cultural phenomenon - the intangible heritage........

Comparison and sensitivity analysis of different back- calculation algorism for pavement layer moduli
  • Abstract

  • Full Article
For a long time, the most important back-calculation method for determining elastic modulus in asphalt design has been recognised. Despite the fact that many back-calculation programmed use various back-calculation practices and algorithms, obtaining an accurate inverse of the pavement layer module remains a difficult task. In this study, all of the critical parameters and operators that affect both static modulus E and elastic modulus back-calculation using machine learning (ML) have been carefully investigated. Therefore, recommendations and findings regarding all the details needed to proceed the back- calculation process were identified. These indices were studied in order to determine typical module by climate, traffic, and age. This dissertation presents independent prediction modules were developed..........

This study aimed at making a diagnosis of faecal sludge management in the urban area of Ebolowa, capital city of the region of South Cameroon (Central Africa). More specifically, the research work analyzed the faecal sludge (FS) management current practices, characterized the faecal sludge samples, designed and sized a treatment station for the sustainable management of these wastes. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among 379 households, besides the interview of some main key actors in charge of technical services at the urban council of Ebolowa. Overall, ten (10) of faecal sludge were collected and physicochemical (pH; Temperature; Conductivity; Salinity; Ammonium; Phosphate; Nitrate; COD; BOD5) as well as bacteriological (fecal coliforms) analyzes were carried out in the laboratory according to the standard methods. the main results of the survey indicated that all the households and public/private..........
