Pounding Effect Control in Existing Building by Adding Shear Wall | ||||||||
Nepal is located in high seismic zone but in Nepal before the Gorkha earthquake 2015 most of the buildings were not designs with proper seismic guidelines. Hence the Existing structures in Nepal are required to be designed for controlling pounding effect between two adjacent buildings and constructed to resist earthquake. In this project at first a site visit of two existing Hospital Building was done, with the help of non-destructive test (NDT) the number of reinforcements and quality of the structure was identified, after that they are modelled and designed by adding shear wall in existing building and its pounding effect is checked as per IS1893:2002/16. The seismic analysis is performed by a Response spectrum method using an FEM software ETABS. After introducing curtailed shear wall the deflection and reinforcements are compared with the existing building model.The results indicated that shear wall method reduces the deflection and reinforcement requirement of Existing Building.

Seismic Analysis and Design of Masonry Structure | ||||||||
Past world–wide earthquake experience shows that the un-reinforced masonry structure is more vulnerable than reinforced structure. Unreinforced masonry buildings are usually characterized by sudden and dramatic collapse. This review paper is mainly deals with the seismic analysis and design of masonry structure. To carry out the study at first, architectural drawings are prepared considering different functional, geometrical and engineering aspects. The building is located in Himalayan region of Nepal which is in high seismic zone i.e. V. The structure which is analyzed and designed is single storied dressed stone masonry building with metal roof structure and CGI roof sheets.Then the building modeled in FEM-based software (SAP2000, version 18.1.1) for detailed structural analysis including all material properties, loads and its combination. The analysis results like direct stresses, bending stresses, shear stresses, tension, etc. are determined and checked against the limiting value of the material as per codal provision. The drawings are suitably adjusted to bring the building to safe level as per codal requirements.

A Hierarchical Real-Time ControlScheme for a Life-SizeHumanoid Robot Teleoperation with Complexity-Dependent Task Decomposition | ||||||||
To improve the defects of the life-size humanoid robot, such as slow system response, operation difficulty and the lack of autonomy, a framework of distributed multi-core communication and a hierarchical control strategy are presented. First, the distributed multi-core communication framework divides the robot control system into five levels according to processing capacity. Second, based on the hierarchical control strategy, full-autonomous motions and semi-autonomous motions are decomposed and processed at different levels. Therefore, dataflow in the communication network is well planned to reduce latency and the robot can accomplish more tasks autonomously to reduceoperation difficulty. And a new human-machine interface and control scheme with complexity-dependent task decomposition are presented which enable the operator to acquire the robot's visual information and teleoperate the robot to achieve real-time visual angle transformation, real-time hand joint mapping, and complex continuous action. The hierarchical robot control scheme is proved to be effective and competent for dealing with complex action and multi-terminal interaction.

Mitigation of Mutual Interference among Laser Radarsfor Intelligent Driving | ||||||||
With the rapid progress of intelligent driving technologies, there are potential trends that more and more vehicles driving on the roads will implement laser radars. A brief review of mutual interference among pulsed laser radars will be presented, following with the typical frequency modulated continuous wave modulating technique. Then, the interference of pulse sequence modulation technique will be investigated, which shows an obvious drop of interference ratio compared with traditional methods. In addition to the range measurement, pulse sequence modulation is also demonstrated to have potential of measuring target speed by Doppler.

Aseismic wave velocity selection algorithm based on density peak clustering and similarity function | ||||||||
In the three-dimensional imaging tunnel geological advanced forecasting instrument, the manual velocity scanning analysis method is often used when selecting the seismic wave velocity. The selected velocity is not unique, the efficiency is low, and the accuracy is low. The paper uses the density peak clustering algorithm to group the velocity spectrum. Then, the least square method is used to linearly fit the amplitude values of the grouped signals with different velocities, and finally, a similar function is used to optimize the amplitude values of the fitted velocities, so that the computer can automatically select the velocity in the seismic wave velocity spectrum. The verification of the model data and the measured data of the Caoba tunnel shows that the algorithm in this paper has achieved good results in terms of prediction accuracy, algorithm stability, and calculation velocity.

Virtual Platform for SMART Decisions in Urban Planning | ||||||||
In this paper the web software for citizens' participation in urban planning is presented. The software is implemented in the pilot region of the city of Bitola in Republic of Macedonia. Also in the paper current legislation for urban planning in the Republic of Macedonia from the aspect of the citizens' participation in the urban planning is analyzed. Consequences from the current legislation and practices are analyzed too, through a survey among citizens. At the and some initial conclusions from the pilot operation of the software are drawn.
