Hardware Algorithm for Variable Precision Multiplication on FPGA
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
A hardwired algorithm for computing the variable precision multiplication is presented in this paper. The computation method is based on the use of a parallel multiplier of size m to compute the multiplication of two numbers of n×m bits. These numbers are represented in the variable precision floating point format, but in this work only the mantissas are considered; the exponents are easily obtained by adding the exponents of the two operands to be multiplied. In this computing method of multiplication, the partial products are added as soon as they are computed, resulting in the use of the lowest memory for intermediate results storage, (i.e. the size of the result is of 2n×m bits). The Xilinx FPGA circuits, of Vertex-II families and bigger ones, have interesting resources such as embedded multipliers 18×18 bits, memory blocks (Select Ram) and carry chain paths for the carry propagation acceleration and DCM blocks (Digital Clock Manager) to generate and control clocks. These resources have been advantageously used, in the implementation, to reduce the computation delay compared to the solution that uses only FPGA CLBs (Configurable Logic Blocks). Our architecture has been tailored to use these efficient resources and the resulting architecture is dedicated to compute the multiplication of operands of sizes ranging from 1×64 bits to 64× 64 bits with a cycle time of 33 ns.

Consensus algorithm for video tracking using camera networks
  • Abstract
  • Keywords

  • Full Article
Networks of video cameras are being installed in many applications, like, surveillance and security, disaster response, environmental monitoring, etc. Currently, most of the data collected by such networks is analyzed manually, a task that is extremely tedious and reduces the potential of the installed networks. Therefore, it is essential to develop tools for analyzing the data collected from these cameras and summarizing the results in a manner that is meaningful to the end user. Tracking and activity recognition are two fundamental tasks in this regard. In this Paper, we developed the methods for tracking and activity recognition in a distributed network of cameras. It tested our approach for tracking in a real camera network with single camera looking over an indoor area of approximately 100 sq. feet. In the area under surveillance, there were two targets in total that were to be tracked using our distributed Kalman-Consensus filtering approach. In our experiment, the measurements are obtained using histogram of gradient (HOG) human detector. The association of measurements to targets is achieved based upon appearance (color) and motion information.

  • Full Article
Groundwater is used for a variety of purposes, including irrigation, industrial, drinking, and manufacturing. Assessment and mapping of quality of groundwater is an important because the physical and chemical characteristics of groundwater determine its suitability for agricultural, industrial and domestic usages. Geographic information system (GIS) is an efficient and effective tool in solving problems where spatial data are important. Geographical Information System (GIS) can be an effective and powerful tool for mapping, monitoring, modelling and assessing water quality, detecting environmental change, determining water availability, preventing flooding and managing water re-sources on a local or regional scale. In the present study an attempt has been made to study the Spatial variations in ground water quality in the four tehsils namely Anantnag, Bijbehara, Dooru and Kulgam of Anantnag district of South Kashmir. For achieving this spatial interpolation technique namely Inverse Distance Weighed (IDW) has been put to use to estimate the spatial distribution of the ground water quality parameters. In the present study, water samples were collected from 92 locations. The water samples were analysed for physico-chemical parameters like pH, TH, Ca, Mg, Fe, F, SO4, NO3, K, Cl and Na using standard techniques in the laboratory by the Department of Public Health Engineering Srinagar (PHE) and Central Groundwater Board Jammu (CGWB) and compared with the standards. The ground water quality information maps of the entire study area have been prepared using GIS spatial interpolation techniques for all the above parameters. The results obtained in the study and the spatial database established in GIS will be helpful for monitoring and managing ground water pollution in ; study area. Mapping was coded for Potable with Desirable Limits, Potable with Permissible Limits and Non-potable in terms of water quality as per the BIS standards for water quality. The study holds significance keeping in view the pollution in ground water sources of the study area and will be helpful in pin-point the areas were this pollution has reached to the level which is not only harmful for living humans but as well as for animals.

Design of Floating Point Multiplier Using Vhdl
  • Abstract
  • Keywords

  • Full Article
In VHDL design possible to perform normal multiplication, addition, subtraction but it is difficult to perform floating point multiplication. So in this we implementing a new algorithm for performing the floating point multiplication. Floating point number can represent a very large or a very small. It could also represent very large negative number and very small negative number as well as zero. Floating point number is typically expressed in the scientific notation, with a fraction (F), and exponent (E) of a certain radix(r). Modern computers adopt IEEE 754 standard for representing floating point numbers. Floating point number consists of two fixed point components, whose range depends exclusively on the number of bits or digits in their representation. Whereas components linearly depend on their range, the floating point range linearly depends on the significant range and exponentially on the range exponent component, which attaches outstandingly wider range to the number. In this paper we perform -32-bit and 64-bit floating-point multiplication. Floating point multiplication is important in many commercial applications including financial analysis, banking, tax calculation, currency conversion, insurance, and accounting.

The aim of the thesis work entitled "A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ON WEB CLUSTERING ALGORITHMS" is to identify the efficient web document clustering algorithm for searching the information from very large databases available in the web efficiently and effectively.A number of clustering algorithms exists for the retrieval of information from large databases. Those algorithms are implemented in several search engines available today like Yahoo, Google and Infoseeketc., The purpose of this thesis work is to compare the different clustering algorithms in the field of data mining. The different clustering algorithms used for the comparative analysis are STC (Suffix Tree Clustering), K-means, Fractionation, AHC (Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering) and SHOC (Semantic Hierarchical Clustering Algorithm). The comparative analysis of web document clustering algorithms uses two parameters. First parameter time is used to mention the time taken to fulfill the given query by the algorithm. The second parameter is used to mention the number of documents retrieved by the algorithm. The purpose of this comparative analysis is to find the efficient and effectiveness s of the different web document clustering algorithms. The suffix Tree clustering algorithm (STC) found to be the best algorithm for the retrieval of maximum documents with minimum time.

This paper presents an analysis approach of multicondcutor quasi-TEM lines transmission interconnect in a single dielectric region and multimode waveguides using the finite element method (FEM). We illustrate that FEM is suitable and effective as other methods for modeling of interconnecting lines in high- speed digital circuits. We mainly focus on designing of five-conductor transmission lines interconnect in a single-layered dielectric medium and multimode waveguides. We computed the capacitance, inductance, and impedance matrices, and then we identify the potential distribution of the five-conductor transmission lines interconnect in a single-layered dielectric medium and multimode waveguides. Our method showed very good accuracy in comparison to the other methods.

The goal of direct digital manufacturing is to provide the manufacturing and service community with solutions to design, validate, analysis, monitor and control (DVAMC) using web based system by introducing new information and communication technology (ICT) to manufacture the components designed by customers towards build-to-order production. The scope of Digital Manufacturing has evolved recently to include Computer Aided Design (CAD); Computer Aided Engineering (CAE); a Manufacturing Data Base which contains product data, process data, manufacturing resources; Direct Digital Manufacturing is a 2D computer environment. This paper will discuss integration of several stages involved in the design and manufacturing of bioengineering products. The main objective of this paper is to design and manufacture the customized dental implant for permanent tooth in case of tooth loss. The process involves customer as a designer to manufacture his/her own idea for customization of dental implants. The direct digital manufacturing methodology reduces material, less MLT, foster design, shorter time to market and customization. Further the 2D data of design information can be of 3D data for the customized products.

Performance Evaluation of a Modern NPR for Over Current Protection with the Application of Microcontroller Technology in Power System

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
Numerical Protective Relays (NPRs) are the result of the application of microcontroller technology in relay industry. NPRs have the ability to communicate with its peers, are economical and are easy to operate, adjust and repair. Over-current protection is a key part of the power system. Over-current relays are extensively used in power system protection. The relay operates when actuating current exceeds a specified limit. These relays have their application with wide range of power system components viz. sub-transmission and distribution network, generators, transformers etc. Design for implementation of an over-current relay as a System On Programmable Chip (SOPC) is presented. Microcontroller (μc) is used for the System On Chip (SOC) application to achieve a SOPC for the proposed design. The μc-based SOPC approach is faster and economical as compared to conventional SOC devices. The design is suitable for distribution or sub-transmission networks and can behave as extreme inverse or very inverse type of time over-current relay. The proposed relay follows standard inverse-time characteristics according to IEEE standard. Performance evaluation of the designed relay has been checked. The results from tests performed are also included.

Use of advanced technology in most of the applications is always being attraction with its simplicity, affordability and utility. This should also be supported by the security. All these issues thought together in this paper, the work has been done in two parts. In the first part the command processing for the navigation for fixing the angle and position, while in the second part these commands are needed to be send to the remote places using GSM [7] technology with security, and actual execution of these command. The security is achieved by using RC4 algorithm. For the GSM a pair of Nokia- 6070 is used. For processing of the commands (AT commands) the back end programming is done in Visual Basic at the transmitter and 89c51 is at the receiver end for decoding the AT commands for execution.

Integral Abutment Bridges-Development of Soil Model for Soil Structure Interaction in Time History Analyses

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
Integral abutment bridges are defined as bridges with no joints between the superstructure and the supporting abutments. The loads on laterally applied bridges are mostly worked via a row of perpendicular piles which are established underneath the abutment wall. The response of the soil compiled behind the abutment and exactly adjacent to the foundation is said to be the most significant source of uncertainty affecting the analysis and design of integral abutment bridges. Clay stiffness, hard, medium and low around the piles and level of sand compaction, dense, medium and loose state of the abutment backfilling are parameters that show the effect of soil in performance of integral abutment bridges. Nonlinear time history analyses on two-dimensional Integral Abutment Bridges under seismic loads were performed with finite element software. Under seismic loading, it is proposed that dense backfilling of the abutment reduces deflection of the pile, the displacement of the abutment, the moments in the girder and especially the pile head moments. When there is seismic loading, with the piles grounded in hard clay, there is decrease in the abutment displacement, while the greatest girder moment, the maximum pile moment and the maximum girder moment at the abutment will be reduced. Low clay stiffness around piles minimizes pile lateral force at pile head and hard soil stiffness around piles minimizes pile head/abutment displacement.

Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation of Particle Size Growth in Electrochemical Reactor

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
A mathematical model to describe the effect of increase in bed volume of a three-dimensional fluidized bed electrode operating under the condition of mass transfer is presented. The process of electrodeposition within electrochemical reactor results in the increase of particle sizes. This phenomenon increases the volume of the bed. The model incorporates the pseudo-stationary behaviour in the reactor since the bed increases in volume due to the particle size growth. The developed differential equations are resolved using finite difference method. The overpotential distribution and the reaction rate within the reactor are calculated. The principal results are the effects of the limiting current operation on the superficial displacement with time. The mathematical modelling shows that the bed expansion is independent of the reactor width, the porosity and the current densities.

IC Interconnects Modeling using X-parameters

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
The performance of IC interconnects has been stretched tremendously recently years by high speed integrated circuit systems. Even though S-parameters are popularly used for the characterization of IC interconnects, their modeling has to consider the existence of active devices, such as buffers and drivers. The I/O model is difficult to obtain due to the IP protection and limited information. In this paper, we propose to use the X-parameter to model the IC interconnect system. Based on the PHD formalism, X-parameter models provide an accurate frequency-domain method under large-signal operating points to characterize their nonlinear behaviors. Another challenge is that in the digital IC system, the digital signal is best represented in the time domain while S-parameter and X-parameter are both in the frequency domain. Hence, a proper control of the harmonic contents inside the input signal to drivers and buffers are needed. Starting from modeling the CMOS inverter, we present the whole link modeling primarily based on X-parameter for the pulsed digital signal. According to our knowledge, this is the first time X-parameter is applied for this type of applications.

CRAM: Efficient Dynamic Resource Scheduling in Cloud Computing

  • Abstract

Cloud computing has emerged as the default paradigm for a variety of fields especially considering the resources and infrastructures consumption in case of distributed access. The solution has however placed a lot of emphasis of a cloud server with variety of demands of which quality of service reminds a paramount strategy. There are a lot of strategies is in place for this quality cost which is regulated by service level agreement [SLA].An SLA is an agreement between client and server which when violated will impose penalties for the infringement or violation performance evaluation place a key role allowing system managers to evaluate the effects of different resource management strategies on the data center functioning and to predict the corresponding cost/benefits. In order to deal with very large systems composed of hundreds or thousands of resources. The system should allow to easily implementing different strategies and should have policies to represent different working conditions. Keeping this is mind a rewards scheme called as SRNS-Stochastic Reward Nets is utilized which is dynamic in nature to the status of the requests made and job allocated. The proposed model is scalable enough to represent system composed of thousands of resources and it makes possible to represent both physical and virtual resources exploiting cloud specific concepts such as the infrastructure elasticity. The resources offered by other public cloud system through a sharing and paying model is also controlled in term of performance metrics like utilization, responsiveness and load burst. This model is analytical in nature unlike the existing approaches which are assumptive and simulation based in nature.

The aim of this work wasto study the exhaust emissions characteristics of a multi-cylinder,15.2-liter diesel engine dual-fueled with natural gas at different operating conditions for generator application. The electromechanical system was composed of a commercially availablesix-cylinder turbocharged and aftercooled diesel engine, coupled with thegenerator rated at 500 kWe at full-load. Exhaust emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbons (HC), sootand carbon dioxide were measured at different loads. This work also presents the effects of diesel oxidation catalyst on HC and CO conversions under dual fuel operation. The results showed that NOx emission was reduced under dual fuel operation compared to diesel operationover a wide range of loads. HC and CO emissions were increased under dual fuel operation, but their concentrations were considerably reduced with oxidation catalyst. It was also found that soot emissioninitially increasedwithgaseous fuel percentage up to about 35 to 50 percent under dual fuel operation. However, further increase in gas percentageresulted in reduction of soot emission.

  • Abstract

The 59.6% Ni, 24.0% Cr and 9.8% Mo alloy, used in dental prosthesis was recast in open fire - oxy-GLP torch and naturally cooled. The electrochemical study has shown that the alloy has behavior similar to chrome, displaying an extensive passivity area due to formation of a chrome oxide layer. The development study of corrosive process was carried out by interrupting the potentiodynamic polarization curve in four different potentials and their surfaces were analyzed by optical microscopy and scanning electronic microscopy. The material micrograph, before being subjected to the electrochemical test, displayed homogeneous surface, showing some pores, probably formed during the recast procedure. The wear and tear process begins after the transpassivity potential, with intergranular corrosion characteristics with preferential dissolution of region with the smallest Mo content, as quantified by EDS. The obtained surface has appearance of a sample electrolitically attacked in HCl, displaying Mo-rich precipitates in the grains boundaries.

Emerging Vp8 Video Codec For Mobile Devices

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
Multimedia has become an inevitable part of our daily lives. It finds application in various areas,
from education to entertainment. The growth of internet and mobile communication has also increased the use
of multimedia applications. Digital video applications for network, wireless-enabled and mobile devices pose a
range of constraints such as low channel bandwidth, limited storage capacity and low cost. This has created a
need for high quality video at low bitrates. To meet this need, several compression algorithms have been
developed for coding video content. Depending upon the desired quality and information throughput,
compression techniques call for a large amount of processing and complex coding tools. This increase in
complexity calls for an aggressive optimization of video codec's in order to meet the real time targets on lowpower
and cost sensitive devices. Real-time software-based video codec has been widely used onPCs with
relatively strong computing capability. However, mobile devices, such as Pocket PCs and Handheld PCs, still
suffer from weak computational power, short battery lifetime and limited display capability. We developed a
practical lowcomplexity real-time video codec for mobile devices. Several methods that can significantly reduce
the computational cost are adopted in this codec and described in this paper, including apredictive algorithm for
motion estimation, the integer discrete cosine transform (IntDCT), and a DCT/Quantizer bypass technique. A
real-time video communication implementation of the proposed codec is also introduced. Experiments show that
substantial computation reduction is achieved while the loss in video quality is negligible. The proposed codec
is very suitable for scenarios where low-complexity computing is required..

The discharge through irrigation canals is commonly controlled by means of sluice gates. Generally
they are used as normal sluice gate. But for the purpose of diverting the discharge they are also used as side
sluice gates. In order to increase the efficiency of sluice gate it can be placed obliquely to the flow, increasing
the effective sluice gate length and hence increasing the discharge for the same upstream water depth, gate
opening and channel width. This paper contains the results of experimental study carried out to explore the flow
characteristics of skew sluice gates under free flow conditions. A generalized equation in terms of non

Nowadays, in this era of information technology personal computer is common usage in office and home purposes. Most of personal computer software applications use US-English for its user interface and not all countries use the computer instruction using the language of the country concerned. In general, the problems caused by conditions like this one is creates a semantic gap. Indonesian is also experiencing these problems which there are still many Indonesian people that cannot understand in computer English instructions. This gap may increase intensifies globalization. However, the semantic gap also creates end users market opportunity for Indonesian computer application with appropriate terminology. With proper terminology, making computer software applications will target of non-advanced users. This paper researches on the potentials of an Indonesian online bussines web browser. A mocked-up clone of Mozilla Firefox 18.1 was made for the purpose of collecting questionnaire result from respondents. The respondents were computer course students which meet the criterions of non-advanced users. The test that was done states that simple straightforward translations should be adequate for most cases, although a standardization of terminologies is still required.

In order to study the effect of information and communication technology on math learning from two classes of mathematics, students in Mazandaran teachers' university (Dr. Shariati Campus, Sari, Mazandaran, Iran),one class was selected as an experimental group and the other as a control group. The graph subject in the lesson discrete mathematics was taught to the experimental group by using NEWGRAPH educational software that is a kind of dynamic interactive software and the same subject was taught to the control group without this software. At the beginning of this course, a pretest was applied and at the end of it, a post test was held. The results of using unilateral covariance analysis indicated that the experimental group' s scores were better than those of the control group in the significance level p<0.05.This research, also, is going to answer the following questions: To teach mathematics, should teaching totally be done by using modern technology and/ or combination of the other teaching methods, and which strategies can we use except or better than technology?

Source and destination transmit data using the intermediate nodes after the connection has been established. The packets for which the acknowledgements are not received will be sent after round trip time (RTT) which violates the one important concept called timeliness in data communication. Our approach will decrease the time for communication. Intermediate nodes respond spontaneously in establish better communication between source and destination. This concept is not copied from any literature before.

Now-a-days, World Wide Web (WWW) becomes too huge, so it becomes too difficult to find out the relevant documents for user. Web Search Engine helps users to find out the relevant information; but these search engines can‟t provide personalized results. Different users want different kinds of information on the same query. Different people have different interest, need and intension about the same query. So, personalization is the technique which adapts the user needs and based on that, it will make the ranking decisions about the search result. Re-ranking provides more quality and effectiveness to search result; which satisfies user more. But, the main problem is how to obtain user needs or interest correctly and accurately. Based on the techniques of identifying and organizing user interest, a different type of personalization system emerges. General Terms Algorithms, Experimentation, Performance
Personalization, User Profile, Rule Based Personalization, Market Basket Analysis, Collaborative filtering.

This paper deals with the stress analysis of boiler shell with riveted joints. By using finite element method, a stress analysis has been carried out under the application of pressure at the inner surface of boiler shell. Von-Mises stresses and maximum shear stresses are found. These stresses are compared with analytical results. Using the two materials, structural steel and aluminum alloy, stress values have been compared for same working conditions. It is found that structural steel is safer as compared to aluminum alloy at the same working conditions. Modeling has been done by Pro-E and analysis of riveted joint has been done by ANSYS (Workbench) with a version 14.5.

Hydro chemical Facies Identification and Groundwater Quality Studies in Eastern Niger Delta, Nigeria

  • Abstract

Soil and water pollution are major environmental problem facing many coastal regions of the world due to high population, urbanization and industrialization. The hydrofacies and water quality of the coastal plain-sand of part of Eastern Niger-Delta, Nigeria was investigated in this study. Hydrogeological investigations show that the aquifers in the area are largely unconfined sands with intercalations of gravels, clay and shale which are discontinuous and however form semi-confined aquifers in some locations. The observed wide ranges and high standard deviations and mean in the geochemical data are evidence that there are substantial differences in the quality/composition of the groundwater within the study area. The plot of the major cations and anions on Piper, Durov, and Scholler diagrams indicated six hydrochemical facies in the area: Na-Cl, Ca-Mg-HCO3, Na-Ca-SO4, Ca-Mg-Cl, Na-Fe-Cl and Na-Fe-Cl-NO3. The groundwater quality of the area was evaluated using water quality index. The study identified salt intrusion and high iron content and poor sanitation as contributors to the soil and water deterioration in the area. Saltwater/freshwater interface occurs between 5 m to 185 m while iron-rich water is found between 20 m to 175 m. The first two factors are natural phenomenon due to the proximity of the aquifer to the ocean and probably downward leaching of marcasite contained in the overlying lithology into the shallow water table while the last factors is the results of various anthropogenic activities domiciled in the area. The peoples in the region are advised to imbibed good hygiene and sanitary habit.

Bacteriological and Chemical Analysis of Well Water from Villages in Edati, Niger State, North-central Nigeria

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
The physico-chemical and bacteriological properties of water from hand-dug wells from villages in Edati communities was evaluated in this study. The water samples were analyzed in accordance with the standard procedures for water analysis. The results of the physico-chemical and bacteriological analysis revealed that all the parameters were below the maximum permissible limit for a safe drinking water recommended by Nigerian Standard for Drinking Water Quality except iron, manganese, E.coli and total coliform whose concentration in some locations were higher than the acceptable limit. The high iron and bacterial coliform may be attributed to the shallow well depth, distance to pit latrine/soakaway, improper well construction, inadequate of well lining and land use system in the area. The results obtained indicates that the groundwater quality of Edati fall between the maximum permissible limit of NSDWQ. It is therefore recommended that provision of hand dug wells and boreholes in this area should not be in proximity with the pit-latrines, septic and dump sites.

Analysis of Flutter in a Flat Composite Plate

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
Composite materials provide design flexibility in that fiber placement and orientation can be specified and a variety of material forms and manufacturing processes are available. It is possible, therefore, to tailor the structure to a high degree in order to meet specific design requirements in an optimum manner. Flutter is a dangerous phenomenon encountered in flexible structures subjected to aerodynamic forces. This includes aircraft, buildings, telegraph wires, stop signs, and bridges. Flutter occurs as a result of interactions between aerodynamics, stiffness, and inertial forces on a structure. In an aircraft, as the speed of the wind increases, there may be a point at which the structural damping is insufficient to damp out the motions which are increasing due to aerodynamic energy being added to the structure. This vibration can cause structural failure and therefore considering flutter characteristics is an essential part of designing an aircraft.

Dynamic Consolidation of Virtual Machines In Cloud Data Centers For Managing Overloaded Hosts Under Quality of Service Constraints

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
Cloud computing has emerged as the default paradigm for a variety of fields especially considering the resources and infrastructure consumption in case of distributed access. Overloaded host is an aspect of dynamic VM consolidation that directly influences the resource utilization and Quality of Service (QoS) delivered by the system. The server overloads cause resource shortages and performance degradation of applications. Current solutions to the problem of host overload detection are generally heuristic-based, or rely on statistical analysis of historical data. The limitations of these approaches are that they lead to sub-optimal results and do not allow explicit specification of a QoS goal proposing a novel approach that for any known stationary workload and a given state configuration optimally solves the problem of host overload detection by maximizing the mean inter-migration time under the specified QoS goal based on a Markov chain model and proposed a control algorithm for the problem of host overload detection as a part of dynamic VM consolidation. The model allows a system administrator to explicitly set a QoS goal in terms of the OTF parameter, which is a workload independent QoS metric. For a known stationary workload and a given state configuration, the control policy obtained from the Markov model optimally solves the host overload detection problem in the online setting by maximizing the mean inter-migration time, while meeting the QoS goal. Using the Multisize Sliding Window workload estimation approach the model to handle unknown non stationary workloads and propose an optimal offline algorithm for the problem of host overload detection to evaluate the efficiency of the MHOD algorithm.

This paper presents a new technique to reduce static and dynamic power consumption, increases speed in Content Addressable Memory (CAM).Our approach is to check most significant bits of CAM for search operation by breaking the match lines into several segments based on most significant bits. Since most stored words fail to match in their respective segments, the search operation is discontinued for corresponding segments. The technique proposed memory partition scheme by validating operating segments of CAM where the ideal portion should be short of to cut-off region using clock gating.

High utility itemset mining is a research area of utility based descriptive data mining, aimed at finding itemset that contributes most to the total utility. A specialized form of high utility itemset mining is utility-frequent itemset mining, which – in addition to subjectively defined utility – also takes into account itemset frequencies. This paper presents a profitable and preferable within the given utility and support constraints threshold. An extensive performance study using both synthetic and real data sets is reported to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of proposed algorithms.

A Survey on Post-Placement Techniques of Multibit Flip-Flops

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
Power reduction has become a vital design goal for sophisticated design applications, whether
mobile or not. Researchers have shown that multi-bit flip-flop is an effective method for clock power
consumption reduction .The underlying idea behind multi-bit flip-flop method is to eliminate total inverter
number by sharing the inverters in the flip-flops. The locations of some flip-flops would be changed after this
replacement, and thus the wire lengths of nets connecting pins to a flip-flop are also changed. To avoid violating
the timing constraints, we restrict that the wire lengths of nets connecting pins to a flip-flop cannot be longer
than specified values after this process. The identification of merge able flip-flops, we transform the coordinate
system of cells. In this way, the memory used to record the feasible placement region can also be reduced.
Then, we will show how to implement multi-bit flip-flop methodology by XILINX Design Compiler.
Experimental results indicate that multi-bit flip-flop is very effective and efficient method in lower-power
designs

Nozzle Vent: A Simpler Approach to Laptop Cooling

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
Laptops are the miniature versions of professional computers and are globally used. They are smaller, smarter and expensive equipment with high processing capacity, memory, and performance etc. They are the device from global technology. Vast technology revolution has advanced laptops to today's position but, laptop overheating is a problem which emerge without any occasion. Generally laptops heat during playing high graphic usage games, rendering videos, using multimedia programs etc. Though various solutions from software's to liquid cooling have been developed nothing seems to be a feasible and reliable one. The main source of cooling laptop is air. Conventional cooling system uses air to cool laptops, they suck the air with the help of small fans and circulates to the heat pipe to cool the processing and control systems of laptop, and thus somehow heating problem is reduced but with greater effort .The temperature of air at the input of the suction vent plays a vital role in cooling process. If any means are utilized that could reduce the temperature of incoming air the efficiency of cooling can be increased. Thus in this project the nozzle vents are purposed. According to the law of ideal gas the pressure and temperature are directly proportional to each other. Nozzle is a device which can decrease the pressure of gas increasing the velocity thus as the pressure of air decreases, temperature decreases. Hence implementing tiny convergent nozzles at the inlet of vent can decrease the temperature of the incoming air which, directly or indirectly increases the cooling efficiency in laptops.

A survey on the effects of vehicle emissions on human health in Chidambaram town

  • Abstract

  • Full Article
Vehicular emissions generally include oxides of nitrogen, sulphur, carbon hydrocarbon, mercury and leads. The effects of vehicular emissions on human health, vegetations, and environments were investigated in four locations of Chidambaram (East Car Street, West car street, North Car Street and south car street junctions). The investigation was carried out with the use of questionnaires and High volume sampler. The experiments were conducted on air samples collected from each location to determine the level of CO, NOX,SO2 and SPM. The results obtained from questionnaire show that on the average, 71%, 39.5%, 64.5%, 26%, 47% were respectively affected by sleeplessness, running nose, eye irritation, asthmatic attack, and headache respectively. Chidambaram town is suffering from poor air quality, mostly because of vehicular emissions or fumes. Air pollution caused by existing vehicle emission is known to have already contributed to an increase in asthma, acute respiratory diseases and even sometimes resulted in death. This study aims at assessing the effects public health relating to vehicular emissions in Chidambaram. Primary data was collected using questionnaires and oral interviews on the trend of vehicle ownership between November-December (2012) to January-February (2013). Vehicle emissions are a significant contributor to ambient pollution, especially in urban areas. Monitoring of ambient hourly concentrations of CO, NOx, Spm and SO2 took place at four major junctions in Chidambaram during morning, low-traffic hours and during afternoon, high-traffic hours. Concentrations of NOx were alarmingly high in all locations tested. Carbon monoxide concentrations were also high. Concentrations of both CO and NOx were significantly higher during the afternoon than during the morning. Air quality crisis in cities is mainly due to vehicular emissions. The effect of vehicular emission on urban air quality and human health has been described. Recommendations were made to reduce vehicular emission in the study area.

How to Select A Simulation Software

  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Reference
  • Full Article
In a period of continuous change in global business environment, organizations, large and small, are finding it increasingly difficult to deal with, and adjust to the demands for such change. Simulation is a powerful tool for allowing designers imagine new systems and enabling them to both quantify and observe behavior. Currently the market offers a variety of simulation software packages. Some are less expensive than others. Some are generic and can be used in a wide variety of application areas while others are more specific. Some have powerful features for modeling while others provide only basic features. Modeling approaches and strategies are different for different packages. Companies are seeking advice about the desirable features of software for manufacturing simulation, depending on the purpose of its use. Because of this, the importance of an adequate approach to simulation software selection is apparent. Smart Sim Selector is a software developed for the purpose of providing support for users when selecting simulation software. Smart Sim Selector consists of a database which is linked to an interface developed using Visual Basic 6.0. The system queries a database and finds a simulation package suitable to the user, based on requirements which have been specified. This paper provides an insight into the development of Smart Sim Selector, in addition to the reasoning behind the system.

Single Carrier Ofdm Immune to Intercarrier Interference

  • Abstract

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a ideal candidate for next generation wireless communication systems. In OFDM the frequency offset distort the orthogonality between the subcarriers resulting intercarrier interference (ICI). SC-OFDM suffers significant performance degradation resulting from intercarrier interference (ICI) in high mobility environments. In this paper, the effect of ICI on an SC-OFDM system is analyzed and proposes a novel modulation scheme. The proposed Magnitude- Keyed Modulation (MKM) modulation provides SC-OFDM system immunity to ICI and with an easy implementation it significantly outperforms OFDM, SC-OFDM and MC-CDMA systems with Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation and Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) in severe ICI environment.

A review paper on OTA – C integrator circuit is consisting of a resistor simulation and OTA integrator. The structure functions as a best notch filter. A sharp rejection of the frequency in MHz region is observed with decreased gain. The rejection in the frequency is sensitive to bias current and capacitance values. The configuration has high value in Q which is useful in signal processing applications in high frequency region.

The study of the distribution and determinants of disease prevalence in man is done primarily in Radiation Epidemiology. Epidemiologists seek to relate risk of disease to different levels and patterns of radiation exposure. In this paper we examine statistical model of Poisson regression previously employed for the estimation of radiation risk. We examine different regression techniques, which overcome the underlying assumptions of Poisson Regression for risk estimation and propose Hurdle's Model for the same. The models need application of logarithmic transform to yield the additive model instead of multiplicative model, which is usually used in Risk Assessment and thus obtain the Linear Dose-Response Model
