Removal of Heavy Metals from Oil-Well Produced Water Using Agriculture Waste as Adsorbent
Your project presents an innovative approach for utilizing cassava stem biochar (CSB) as an effective adsorbent for removing heavy metals from oil-well produced water. The key steps involved include carbonizing cassava stem at 350°C in a muffle furnace for 3 hours and 30 minutes to produce biochar, which is then tested through batch adsorption experiments. The study specifically highlights the removal efficiency for metals like boron (B), chromium (Cr), silicon (Si), copper (Cu), and iron (Fe), achieving up to 91% removal in the case of boron. Notably, an adsorbent dosage of 2.5 g per 100 ml of produced water was optimal for most metals, though iron was removed more effectively with a lower dosage of 1.5 g.............

Implementation of Linux-Based POS Solutions: A Low-Cost Alternative for the Retail Sector
This article proposes improvements to Information Technology (IT) systems for retail companies, with an emphasis on comparing Linux and Windows operating systems in retail environments, especially at Points of Sale (POS). It is highlighted that the adoption of a Linux-based POS allows operation on hardware with minimal specifications, eliminating the need for machines with greater computing power. Additionally, the free licensing of Linux makes it a more accessible option compared to proprietary operating systems. Although proprietary systems are recognized for their intuitive interface and user familiarity, their usage entails more robust hardware requirements, additional licensing costs for commercial use, and a steeper learning curve for IT staff training...........

Assessment of the Influence of Hot Seawater Temperature on OTEC Performance
The study of the influence of hot seawater temperature on the performance of a 40KW OTEC that will be situated in Bonny Island has been conducted. Daytime surface temperatures in these waters range from a warm 24°C to 30°C, while at a depth of 1000 meters, temperatures are a chilly 4°C to 6°C - an impressive thermal gradient approaching 26°C. This substantial ocean temperature difference has rendered the Niger Delta coastal region an ideal site for the study of the proposed Closed cycle conventional OTEC. The results from both Hysys and MATLAB simulations are compared to evaluate the impact of varying sea water temperatures on system performance and it shows that as the temperature increases from 20°C to 40°C: the turbine power output rises dramatically from 14.41 KW to 99.49 KW in the Hysys simulation and from 14.45 KW to 99.53............

Estimation of Yield by Soil Conservation Service Curve Number Model for Gulakamale watershed
Accurate estimation of runoff and sediment yield amount is not only an important task in physiographic characteristics but also important for proper watershed management. Watershed is an ideal unit for planning and management of land and water resources. Direct runoff in a catchment depends on soil type, land cover, and rainfall. Of the many methods available for estimating runoff from rainfall, the curve number (CN) method (soil conservation service CN [SCS-CN]) is the most popular. The CN depends on soil and land use characteristics. This study was conducted in the Gulakamale watershed using remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS).........

Study of shear behavior of a cylindrical tube in great or infinitesimal transformation: Application to three forms of models
In this research work we have proposed to study a hollow cylindrical tubular structure subjected to an anti-plane shear. we used three energy functions of deformation which is polynomial, power and exponential form respectively to determine the shear solution. The calculations allowed us with certain conditions to find most of the time logarithmic solution of the shear excepted one time where we find a power solution with a logarithmic term. The numerical simulation of the anti-plane shear shows that in finitesimal transformation, the Diouf-Zidi model give the greatest shear followed by the Knowles-Sternberg shear while the Delfino model records the lowest shear, but in great transformation, i.e when the radius........

Development of a Serious Game to Assist in Teaching Programming in Introductory Courses
The increasing difficulty students face when learning programming logic has led to high rates of retention and dropout in introductory technology courses. To address this challenge, we developed a serious game designed to facilitate the learning of programming logic through an engaging, immersive experience. The game incorporates a non-linear learning approach, allowing students to progress at their own pace and revisit specific topics as needed. This flexibility supports students who may struggle with linear course structures, helping them to reinforce key concepts without feeling constrained.........
